As most sessions looked at optical fibers&#8216; different communication aspects, our CEO, Dr. Eran Inbar&#8217;s presentation, show-cased another use case.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation explained how Prisma Photonics uses the same, regular, telecom optical fibers to monitor and sense long-running infrastructures. Dr. Inbar focused specifically on overhead power transmission line monitoring. This use of fiber sensing could help immensely in cases like the 2018 &#8218;Camp Fire&#8216; wildfire in California or regular monitoring, looking for faults. The presentation sheds more light on other use cases and displayed actual results.
