PrismaCyber, Prisma’s next-generation smart solution for monitoring the physical network, uses its patented Hyper-Scan Fiber-Sensing™ technology enabling ultra-sensitive and intelligent-learning detection to provide the telecommunications industry with real-time intelligence and uniquely reliable monitoring capabilities.

The solution lowers deployment costs by using standard, pre-deployed fiber-optic cables (including cables that were installed within a conduit). These fiber-optic cables – which are part of most modern infrastructures – operate as the system’s “sensors” and enable PrismaCyber to monitor and detect the physical network from remote locations, providing surveillance and real-time threat detection for up to 100 km of network per PrismaCyber unit or 200 km per dual-unit. 

PrismaCyber identifies the acoustic signature of each event at or near the physical network, at a resolution that allows classification of the events and identification of their location with unprecedented accuracy and dramatically reduces the “noise” of positive and negative false alarms. 

Within a distance from the physical network that you pre-define, PrismaCyber allows smarter, faster monitoring management and prevents accidental, criminal or malicious activity by flagging for classification a range of events that can include:

  • Mechanical and manual digging or tractor (up to 20 m from the cable)

  • Opening handhole and manhole cover

  • Technicians near the cables

  • Cable (or splicing box) movement

  • Cable temperature

  • Any suspicious activities that pose a danger to physical cyber security


Solution Architecture

PrismaCyber’s platform is Plug & Play – with zero infrastructure installation, and minimal maintenance. 


The platform provides monitoring for up to 100 km per PrismaCyber unit or 200 km per dual-unit. The unit is connected to a single Command & Control (C&C) unit located in the customer’s operating center. 

The PrismaCyber unit attaches directly to the customer’s

fiber-optic cable with a simplex SC/APC connector, which connects to a single fiber in the patch panel – ensuring access to a single fiber only, i.e., not compromising the activity or security of any other fibers in the cable.


An Internet connection (LAN or WiFi) is required to transmit the monitored data to a C&C unit. Scaling up involves use of multiple PrismaCyber units, each of which provides coverage for up to 100 km. Each unit is located in a communication room. All of the units combined require a single C&C unit in the customer’s operating center.


There is no need for discrete sensors. Upgrades are software based; no hardware upgrades are required.


Key Features & Benefits

Systems involving thousands of sensors along the physical network are expensive for deployment, operation, and maintenance. The alternative is fiber sensing – using very long fibers as sensors – which is probably the most cost-effective solution.


But before PrismaCyber, existing solutions were ineffective due to high false alarm rates, poor target classification, and limited ability to use pre-deployed optical communication cables as "sensors".  


PrismaCyber solves all of all these issues thanks to its revolutionary Hyper-Scan technology, which offers 100x sensitivity improvement over alternative systems.


PrismaCyber has raw data of unparalleled quality. We apply Big Data techniques to data sets that are several orders of magnitude wider, with significantly higher SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) levels – leading to very high detection probability and advanced target classification. 


Upgrades to the system are software based - and can be installed remotely.

  • Detection of events

  • Classification of events

  • Location of events (at a resolution of less than 10 m)
