Press Release,

Prisma Photonics sharing a world record, pipeline leak detection case study in Transportation Oil & Gas Congress 2020

Written By  Anna Frenkel December 8, 2020 2 minutes

Prisma Photonics CEO Dr. Eran Inbar gave an online session during the Transportation Oil & Gas Congress 2020, sharing a use case of pipeline leak detection where results were better than ten times the industry standard for leakage detection. World record results.

Prisma Photonics was the Gold Sponsor of the TOGC 2020 Congress held on 16th-17th of November 2020 on the BGS Online Platform (see official site for more information – TOGC Events Site)

In his session, Dr. Inbar shared a case study featuring pipeline leak detection using preexisting buried optical fiber. The presentation explained how leaks were created and measured. Prisma Photonics demonstrated the classification of signal signatures and how, through machine learning, events are qualified to reduce false positive alarms dramatically. The leaks detected were far smaller than the industry standards and act as a new benchmark for the abilities of distributed acoustic fiber sensing (DAS) for pipeline monitoring

About Prisma Photonics

Founded in 2017, Prisma Photonics provides next-generation fiber sensing for smart infrastructure, enabling a new level of monitoring sensitivity. It generates unparalleled data quality that supports better detection and target classification capabilities while dramatically reducing false positive and negative alarm rates.

The platform transforms long-range infrastructure monitoring for a wide range of sectors, including smart roads, railways, powerlines, optical networks and pipelines. With its proprietary approach, Prisma Photonics provides ultra-sensitive detection and intelligent learning detection using preexisting optical communication fibers as “sensors.”
